Who we are
Growing up my family always had a dog. I have always really loved animals. My husband and I got our first dog together in 1999. Jessi was a yellow Labrador and was very, sweet, smart and loyal. We really loved this dog.
We eventually decided we wanted to get another dog. We had both developed allergies throughout the years and starting researching the different types of breeds. We were looking for the personality, smarts and loyalty of the Lab without the massive amount of shedding and allergies. We also wanted to get a smaller dog. I was very interesting in being able to volunteer with my dog as a therapy dog at the local library, nursing home and school.
When we came across the Miniature Australian Cobberdog, we knew we had found the perfect breed. We came home with Rufus a week later. Jessi and Rufus were best friends. Jessi lived to be 15 years old and Rufus became a therapy animal partner with Pet Partners and served as a therapy dog for 14 years. We were so blessed to have Rufus until he was almost 17 years old. I have raised and trained several Australian Cobberdogs as therapy dogs. We have been in love with this breed ever since.
We breed for temperament and strive to produce the very best puppies we can. Our dogs have a sweet, soft temperament and several of them are registered therapy dogs. Several of our puppies have gone on to do therapy work, work with families and children with special needs, become service dogs or medical alert dogs. We would love for you to have one of our special puppies. Please let us know if you are interested in training a puppy for a special purpose like therapy work. We work with a wonderful group called Pet Partners. To learn more about them visit there website at: https://petpartners.org/.
We are a small breeder in eastern Kansas, raising Australian Cobberdogs. Jae Australian Cobberdog parents have DNA health testing completed to ensure the health of our puppies. We are NOT a kennel, wholesaler of dogs, or a pet shop. All our dogs and puppies are our pets raised inside our loving home. They are very well socialized with people and other animals. We are on the Australian Cobberdog Breed Advisory Committee and work with the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA) to preserve and protect the true nature, lineage and genetic makeup of this great breed. The Australian Cobberdog is a great therapy and service dog, easily trained medical alert dog, and overall excellent family companion. We provide a lifetime of friendship and support.
